OUR AVIARY BIRDS
MEET SOME OF OUR RESIDENTS
Every bird at Budgie Sanctuary Rescue has an individual story. Squeaky, Coco and Gracie are three much-loved members of our sanctuary family.
SQUEAKY’S STORY
Squeaky is a lively Black-headed Caique who has been part of Budgie Sanctuary Rescue for more than three years.
Caiques are bright, energetic and highly intelligent parrots. Their playful personalities make them wonderful companions, but they also require considerable daily interaction, enrichment, safe toys and knowledgeable care.
Squeaky brings plenty of personality to sanctuary life and is a much-loved member of our bird family. Squeaky’s story helps demonstrate that providing sanctuary involves much more than food and shelter—it means meeting every bird’s physical, social and emotional needs for the rest of their life.
COCO’S STORY
Coco is a Yellow-crowned Amazon who came to Budgie Sanctuary Rescue in December 2022.
When Coco arrived, injuries to Coco’s feet required treatment, careful monitoring and ongoing supportive care. With time, patience and the right environment, Coco was given the opportunity to feel safe and comfortable again.
Coco’s journey shows why proper veterinary attention and experienced long-term care are so important for rescued birds. Today, Coco remains a much-loved sanctuary resident and a special part of our rescue family.
GRACIE’S STORY
Gracie is a beautiful 15-year-old Blue-fronted Amazon who joined Budgie Sanctuary Rescue on Good Friday 2024.
Like many birds who come into sanctuary care, Gracie needed understanding, patience and the security of knowing she had found a permanent, loving home. Amazons are intelligent, emotional and long-lived birds whose needs can change considerably throughout their lives.
Gracie is now a treasured member of our sanctuary family. Her story reminds people that welcoming a parrot into the family can be a commitment lasting for several decades—and that rescues and sanctuaries provide an essential safety net when circumstances change.
